Billy Hoad
This website was built as a record of the life of a young Sussex working man during the final decade of Queen Victoria’s reign. It is drawn from the diaries Billy Hoad kept from 1893 through to the turn of the century and from some reflections on this period of his life that he recorded in his old age.
The content for the site is copyrighted to the hoad/prebble family, and was provided by Tom Prebble, Billy's great grandson. Tom went through the painstaking task of converting the diaries from print to digital format so that these could be added to the web. He then categorized the content according to key topics.
These topics were then converted to form the structure of the site. As Tom released the content in a chronological format, the site was built in such a way as to combat this.
The site features:
- 22 Key Topic Areas (Content Types
- 22 Views (Each content type is a view)
- Preview images
- Enlarged images based on the previewed images
- Custom Drupal 6 theme
- RSS Feed of key topics
- Custom SEO
- Monthly statistical reports
